
- Big T Leaving San Diego Sept. 1944 - The ti received five battle stars during World War II , three Navy Unit Commendations, and one Meritorious Unit Commendation, and 12 battle stars during the Vietnam War.


- 21 January, 1945 - The ship is hit by Kamikazes off Formosa in the Phillippines over 100 killed and wounded. Big T's crew somehow manages to get things under control and save the crippled carrier.
